Privacy Policy for QRSnip: Screen QR Code Scanner
Effective Date: June 4, 2026
TL;DR: QRSnip is 100% offline. We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any of your personal data, images, or QR code contents. Everything happens locally in your browser.
1. Information We Collect
We do not collect, process, or store any personal data. QRSnip operates entirely locally on your device.
2. How the Extension Works
When you activate the QRSnip extension to scan a QR code:
- The extension takes a screenshot of the currently visible tab.
- The screenshot is temporarily processed locally within your browser's memory using the jsQR library.
- Once the QR code is decoded, the image data is immediately discarded.
- No data, images, URLs, or scanned text ever leaves your computer or gets sent to any external server.
3. Permissions
QRSnip requires the following permissions to function:
- activeTab: Required to take a screenshot of the current page you are viewing so the QR code can be scanned.
- storage: Used solely to temporarily hold the screenshot image while it is being processed by the local decoder.
4. Third-Party Services
We do not use any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising services. There is no tracking code inside the extension.
5. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy.
6. Contact Us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at dev.iproger@gmail.com or via the Chrome Web Store support tab for the extension.
